John 9 : 1 -7 “Light to the eys.”<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
1As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
In Jesus’ era, there were many blind people, because many of them couldn’t eat enough. Thus, because of the deficiency of nutrient, many people became blind. And the blind men had no choice but to be beggars. Suppose that you cannot see anything. What can be more miserable? As the blind man couldn’t see the light, maybe their mind would be dark, too.
One day, Jesus met a man who was blind from his birth. He didn’t require Jesus to cure him of his blindness. But Jesus came to him and spat on the ground and made some mud, and then put it on the man’s eyes. And Jesus finally told him to go to the pool of Siloam and wash his face. Maybe the blind man would be embarrassed. Actually the distance to the Siloam was not short. But he went without and protest or complaint. And when he washed his face, for the first time, he could see light. It would be the most beautiful day in his life. After seeing the light, again Jesus came to him. And made him sure of his faith. Thus, the blind man became visible both in physical and spiritual. Although we are seeing everything in the world, many times we don’t see what we should see. The evidence that we became God’s children makes it possible that we see what we haven’t seen. When we become more spiritual, we can see God’s intention and his power even a very little thing. This is the change of our sight. According to Jesus’ teaching, there are many blind men though their eyes are open. Jesus is the light to our eyes. If we don’t see the light, we are going to be soon blind.
A traveler was traveling around a mine in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Pennsylvania. And there, he saw a strange scene. A boy was watching many donkeys, and the donkeys were enjoying the sunbath. Thus, the traveler asked the boy why the donkeys were enjoying the sunbath. And the boy replied. “These donkeys work all through the week underground. So, on Sunday they have to enjoy the sunlight. If they don’t see the sun light, they become blind.” Our soul is like this. If we don’t see the light of Jesus regularly, soon we are going to lose our sight. Furthermore, when our eyes are in the darkness, we may commit a sin very easily. In that case, while committing sin, we don’t know what we are doing. On the other hand, when our eyes are blind, we live our life without the right guide.
A young prince asked his tutor to teach him about the death. And the tutor said to the prince “You are too young to know the death” But the prince replied, “No, I don’t think so, in the cemetery I saw many dead people who died younger than my age.” ---Many yeas later, the tutor was about to die of serious sickness. In the pain, he was dying. And the prince came to see him. The tutor asked the prince, “My majesty, please let me live more 15 minutes.------. I served you for 15 years, but you cannot give me even 15 minutes?” The prince replied to him “I can’t, but if you served God for 15 years, he would give you not only 15 minutes but also eternal life. When we see something, we follow what we see. When our eyes are open to God, then we follow God. And he guarantees the eternal life. I wish all of your eyes are open to God and filled with Jesus’ light.
